Uttarakhand: Villagers on strike for 105 days demanding road construction, expressed anger by burning effigy

On one hand, it is being claimed that roads have reached every village in the mountains of Uttarakhand. On the other hand, there is a village where people have been sitting on a dharna for 105 days demanding road construction. But their demands have not been met yet. In protest, the villagers have burnt the effigy of Rural Development Secretary Radhika Jha of Uttarakhand.

Villagers on dharna for 105 days demanding road construction

Villagers of Dumuk village in Chamoli district have been on dharna for the last 105 days. According to the information received, the villagers of Dumuk village near Jyotirmath are demanding road construction. For which they are sitting on a dharna in their own village. The villagers demand that the work of Saaji Lagga Maikot Vemaru Syun Dumuk Kalgoth Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana should be started and a road should reach their village. But 105 days have passed since they started protesting but their demand has not been accepted.

Effigy of Rural Development Secretary Radhika Jha burnt

The patience of the villagers sitting on the dharna for the last three months is now failing. The villagers expressed their anger by burning the effigy of Rural Development Secretary Radhika Jha. The villagers say that now the agitation will be done in the district headquarters as well. Along with this, the effigy of Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami will also be burnt.

Warning given to intensify the agitation

The villagers say that the government has been lying to them for years and their demand is not being met. We have been struggling for years but we have not got anything except assurances. It has been 75 years since the country got independence and 24 years since the state of Uttarakhand was formed, but still the road has not reached our village. The villagers have said that the agitation will continue till the road reaches their village.
