Uttarakhand: Crores of rupees scam under every home tap water scheme, huge anger among local people
The Central Government is running the Har Ghar Nal Se Jal Yojana to provide tap water to every household. But the people of a village in Uttarkashi district have alleged a scam of crores in this scheme. Due to which there is a lot of anger among the villagers. The villagers have been protesting for the last six months on this issue.
Crores of scam under Har Ghar Nal Har Ghar Jal Yojana
Local residents are alleging a scam of crores under the Har Ghar Nal Har Ghar Jal Yojana in Uttarkashi. For this, they have been sitting on a dharna in Uttarkashi district for the last six months. People say that under this scheme, taps were provided to the villages in collusion between the implementing agency and the contractor, but not a single drop of water is dripping from the tap.
Along with this, there are so many irregularities that 5-5 connections of the same family have been shown on paper. Even connections have been given in the name of families who have been living outside for many years and connections of dead people have also been allotted. People say that a scam worth crores of rupees has taken place under the guise of this scheme.
Villagers have been sitting on dharna for the last six months
Villagers have been sitting on dharna for the last six months on this issue in Uttarkashi district. Villagers sitting on dharna say that there should be a CBI inquiry into this scam. People say that with the connivance of the contractor and the implementing agency, some people are fooling us villagers and taking the money meant for our development and building luxurious mansions in Dehradun and Delhi and living there.
People are very angry with the District Magistrate
There is a lot of anger among the villagers towards the District Magistrate. They say that the District Magistrate has failed to convey our demands to the government. Therefore, he should be removed from here. Let us tell you that Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) is a major scheme of the Government of India. Its aim is to provide tap water to all the rural families of the country by the year 2024. This mission was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 August 2019.
