Uttarakhand: Who will win the Kedarnath by-election? 57.64 percent voting till 5 pm

This year on July 9, this seat fell vacant due to the death of Kedarnath Vidhan Sabha MLA Shailarani Rawat. For which voting is being held today. Today, the voters of Kedarnath Vidhan Sabha exercised their franchise. 57.64 percent voting took place in the Kedarnath Vidhan Sabha by-election. Voters were seen in queues at many booths even after 5 o’clock.

Tough competition on Kedarnath seat

There is a direct competition between BJP and Congress on the Kedarnath seat. Former MLA Manoj Rawat from Congress and former MLA Asha Nautiyal from BJP are face to face in the electoral fray of Kedarnath. Before the Kedarnath Vidhan Sabha by-election, the candidates of BJP and Congress not only went to the people’s door but also paid their respects to God so that they could win. A total of six candidates are in the fray for the by-election on this seat, including Asha Nautiyal from BJP and Manoj Rawat from Congress. Both Nautiyal and Rawat have represented Kedarnath Vidhan Sabha in the past.

54-year-old Rawat, who became MLA for the first time from Kedarnath seat in 2017, had to remain at third place in the 2022 assembly elections. Nautiyal has been an MLA from Kedarnath seat twice – in 2002 and 2007, while she had to face defeat in 2012. Nautiyal is currently holding the responsibility of the post of President of the State Party Mahila Morcha. While the Bharatiya Janata Party faces the challenge of retaining this seat, the Congress is in the mood to defeat the BJP in Kedarnath once again after Badrinath.

Why is Kedarnath seat important for BJP

After the elections in Ayodhya and Badrinath, everyone’s eyes are on the by-election to be held on the Kedarnath assembly seat. For the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Kedarnath by-election has become a question of prestige, while the Congress wants to win this election and regain its lost political ground. This is the reason why BJP and Congress are working hard for the Kedarnath by-election.

BJP’s dominance in Baba’s fort

Kedarnath assembly seat has fallen vacant after the death of BJP MLA Shaila Rani Rawat. Elections have been held on this seat five times so far, in which BJP has won three times and Congress twice. Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress have been face to face on this seat. This time too there is a direct contest between BJP and Congress.
