Uttarakhand: CM Dhami held a meeting regarding the Song Dam drinking water project, gave instructions to the officials to displace the affected families soon
Action on the Song Dam drinking water project, one of the most important projects of the state government, has not yet started. Nor have the affected families been displaced yet. In view of this, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with the departmental officials in the secretariat. In the meeting, CM Dhami directed the officials to take action for the displacement of the affected families as soon as possible to start work on the Song Dam drinking water project.
275 families of two districts being affected by the Song Dam drinking water project
Actually, exactly two years ago today, i.e. on 21 November 2022, the Dhami government had taken a big decision regarding the construction of the Song Dam project. Under which, the Rehabilitation and Resettlement Policy 2022 of the Song Dam Drinking Water Multipurpose Project was approved in the Dhami cabinet meeting. In such a situation, according to this policy, one village of Dehradun and four villages of Tehri district affected by the Song Dam drinking water project are to be rehabilitated. The number of affected families of these five villages is 275. Who are to be displaced under the project.
About 11 lakh population will get 150 MLD drinking water daily: The proposed Song Dam drinking water project of about Rs 2021 crore in Dehradun district is also very important. Because, by the year 2053, about 11 lakh population living in Dehradun city and surrounding areas will get 150 MLD drinking water daily.
Song Dam will produce up to 6 MW of electricity
In the year 2022 itself, the Central Water Commission approved the design of the Song Dam drinking water project. The height of the Song Dam to be built on the Song River is about 148 meters. Electricity of about 6 MW can be produced from this. For this, a powerhouse of 6 MW capacity will be built in Kumalda village near Song Dam.
CM Dhami gave these instructions
At the same time, CM Dhami said that the land should be made available as soon as possible on the basis of the consent of the affected families who are to be displaced. All basic facilities should also be provided to the families who will be displaced.
Along with this, after talking to the affected families, work should be done on the basis of their consent to construct community buildings, temples, roads and other things that are required. He also gave instructions to speed up the work of Jamrani Dam project.
