Uttarakhand: Kedarghati showed faith in Asha, the myth of victory of female candidate remains intact

The results of Kedarnath assembly seat have come. The people of Kedarghati gave mandate in favor of BJP. With this, BJP has repeated the myth of victory of a woman candidate in the hot seat Kedarnath assembly. In the Kedarnath assembly by-election, BJP made the state president of Mahila Morcha and former MLA Asha Nautiyal as its candidate. After the year 2017, she once again entered the election fray.

After the formation of Uttarakhand state, she was elected the first MLA of Kedarnath assembly in the first assembly elections held in the year 2002, then she was a candidate from BJP. In the year 2007 also, the regional people elected her as their MLA. After this, she was defeated in the elections twice. Asha Nautiyal, a resident of Dilmi village of Ukhimath development block, belongs to a common family.

In 1996, she was elected unopposed as the district panchayat member from Ukhimath ward for the first time

Her husband Ramesh Nautiyal has been associated with journalism. In the year 1996, she was elected unopposed as the district panchayat member from Ukhimath ward for the first time. After this, in the year 1997-98, BJP gave her the responsibility of District Vice President and in the year 1999 she was elected District President of Mahila Morcha.

Due to her gentle behaviour and continuous public relations, in the first assembly elections held in the year 2002, Asha Nautiyal was made the candidate of BJP from Kedarnath Vidhansabha and she won. She defeated Congress candidate late MLA Shailarani Rawat.

When Asha Nautiyal returned to the party again

In the year 2007 also, BJP made her a candidate and she won by defeating Congress candidate Kunwar Singh Negi. In the year 2012, she was declared the BJP candidate for the third consecutive time, but this time she had to face defeat from Congress candidate Shailarani Rawat. After this, in the year 2016, Shailarani Rawat joined BJP and in the year 2017, BJP made her its candidate, on which Asha Nautiyal rebelled against the party and contested the election as an independent and stood third. Then, Manoj Rawat was elected MLA from Congress and independent Kuldeep Rawat stood second.

After some time, Asha Nautiyal returned to the party and became active in the area. In the year 2022, the party again made Shailrani Rawat the candidate and she won. At the same time, Asha Nautiyal was made the state president of Mahila Morcha, after which she came directly in contact with the high command. This time also in the membership campaign, she was seen contacting village to village. She is considered to have a good hold in the assembly constituency.
