Congress will have to face the consequences of this shameful defeat, questions are being raised on leadership

In the Maharashtra assembly elections, the constituent parties of the Mahavikas Aghadi, Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) and NCP (Sharad Pawar) will have to bear the consequences of this shameful defeat not only in the coming days but for many years. This defeat is most shameful for the Congress. In Mumbai, the city where the Congress was founded, its performance was the most pathetic. In Maharashtra, the state where the Congress was the most powerful, the party has come to the worst condition. In Mumbai, out of 36 seats, it has won only 3 MLAs and in Maharashtra, out of a total of 288 seats, it has won only 15 seats.

Big leaders also lost

In the assembly elections, Congress contested on a total of 102 seats, while the parties of both Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar contested on 96 and 87 seats respectively. In Maharashtra, Congress had a direct fight with BJP on 75 seats, out of which Congress had to face a crushing defeat on 69 seats. Veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has also lost the election from Karad South Assembly seat by about 40 thousand votes. In the last assembly, Congress Legislative Party leader Balasaheb Thorat lost the election from his traditional Sangamner seat by more than 10 thousand votes. Former minister Naseem Khan from Chandivali has also lost the election by 20 thousand votes.

Conflict will increase in Maharashtra Congress

After the election, the discord in Maharashtra Congress will increase further. Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan targeted the Congress leadership in the middle of the counting of votes and said that one reason for our defeat could also be that our leadership was very bad. Former Mumbai Congress President Bhai Jagtap also clearly said in a TV program that the reason for the defeat in Mumbai is our local leaders, who were only focused on themselves, no one paid attention to the workers and what they were doing. Jagtap said that along with seat sharing, no one was serious in the matter of candidate selection.

Rahul was ineffective

Wherever Congress’s veteran leader Rahul Gandhi went to campaign, Congress had to face a crushing defeat. This is going to be a negative thing for Congress. Rahul campaigned in Nandurbar, Dhamangaon, Nagpur East, Gondia, Nanded North, Chimur etc., but no candidate could win. There were a total of 75 seats in Maharashtra on which there was a direct contest between BJP and Congress, in most of these seats BJP has been successful in defeating Congress badly.
