Madhya Pradesh: Now Naxalites will be dependent on every grain! This plan of CRPF has disturbed the sleep of Maoists

The force’s campaign against Naxalites continues in Chhattisgarh. With new strategies, the forces have now intensified their operation. Under this, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has opened three new forward bases in the “hardcore” Maoist violence-affected districts of Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, so that the security forces can be provided “strategic” centers to launch intense anti-Naxal operations.

Forward operating bases (FOBs) have been set up in Tumpalapad and Raigudem in Sukma district and Kondapalli in adjoining Bijapur district. Officials told PTI that these bases have been made operational in the last one week.

Intelligence Naxal operation

The central force is working on a strategy to make inroads into the “hardcore” Naxal areas of the state, where the final battle against Left Wing Extremism (LWE) is concentrated. He said the FOBs act as launching pads for all security forces, including CRPF and state police units, to launch specific and intelligence-based anti-Naxal operations in key areas.

Hit at logistics hub

These three villages in two districts of the Bastar region have been serving as logistics hubs for the Maoists for decades. According to left wing extremism experts, Kondapalli used to be an important recruitment centre for the Maoists’ “most important” PLGA battalion no. 1. The village, located on the banks of the Talperu river, also served as a training area for the Maoists, experts said. Similarly, Tumalpaad, located on the banks of the Chintavagu river, served as a halt area and corridor for the Naxals. The Tumalpaad FOB was manned by the force’s 74th battalion, while the Kondapalli base has been constructed by the 170th CRPF unit. The CRPF’s special jungle warfare unit, Command Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA), provided active security to the teams building these FOBs. He said these FOBs will act as physical barriers and curb the free movement of Naxalites in these areas, which were till now termed as ‘no go’ areas for government authorities and security forces.

Over 40 FOBs in three-four years

The CRPF has built over 40 such FOBs in Chhattisgarh in the last three-four years as the toughest anti-Naxal operations are concentrated in Bastar bordering Odisha and Telangana. Other Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) like the BSF and ITBP and the state police have also built such FOBs in the state. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has recently announced that his government aims to eliminate the threat of Left Wing Extremism from the country by March, 2026 as he asked security forces to chalk out a “robust and ruthless” action plan to reach this goal.
