On the instructions of SP Champawat Ajay Ganpati, during the special vehicle checking campaign being run by the Barakot outpost police in the Ghat area of the Lohaghat Pithoragarh National Highway on Saturday night and on the information of 112 helpline, a private bus number UK04PA-1822 coming to Tanakpur (Champawat) carrying youth participating in the Army recruitment in Pithoragarh district was checked. The driver (Indra Ram son of Hari Ram resident of Chaukhutia Almora) was found to be without a DL and it was confirmed that the driver was drunk.
Police arrested the driver and seized the bus
The police team challaned the driver under section 3/181,185,202,207 MV Act for driving without a driving license and under the influence of alcohol and arrested him and seized the bus. Along with this, outpost in-charge Harish Prasad said that the passengers sitting in the bus were taken to their destination by another vehicle.
