Ruckus over the death of a medical student in Bangladesh, colleges and showrooms vandalized, vehicles burnt

Students have once again taken to the streets in Bangladesh. There have been massive protests in the capital Dhaka. In protest against the death of medical student Abhijit Halder, students vandalized Shaheed Suhrawardy College. The protesters entered the college campus and vandalized 6 vehicles. After this, the crowd of students moved towards Kabi Najrul College and tried to attack the college, but they could not enter the college. During this, there was a clash between two groups, in which 30 people were injured.

What is the whole matter?

The protesting students also attacked the Dhaka National Medical College Hospital, where on November 18, Abhijit Halder, a student of Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Mullah College, died due to negligence in treatment. The students broke the gates and glass of the hospital. The incidents started on November 16, when Abhijit was admitted to the hospital due to dengue and died on November 18. His friends alleged on Facebook on November 19 that Abhijit died due to wrong treatment. Protests against this started on 21 November, in which students of many colleges also participated.

Loss of so many crores

During this time, students looted showrooms around Suhrawardy College. After this, the army was deployed to increase security around Dhaka’s colleges, hostels and places of worship. Suhrawardy College Principal Kakoli Mukherjee said that the college has suffered a loss of about Rs 35 crore. She said that it was their responsibility to teach basic etiquette to the students, but they could not do it. She said that such behavior between the college and the students was unacceptable. During the protest, bikes, cars and ambulances parked in Suhrawardy College were vandalized and classroom and office furniture were damaged.
