There has been a major change in the responsibilities of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in Uttarakhand. On one hand, while 1995 batch IPS Deepam Seth was given the responsibility of DGP on Monday, 1996 batch IPS Abhinav Kumar, who was the acting DGP, has now been given the responsibility of ADG Jail. Apart from this, the responsibilities of many IPS officers have been changed.
Monday was a very special day for the police department. Actually, Deepam Seth got the responsibility as the head of the police department in the state, while acting DGP Abhinav Kumar has been given the responsibility of ADG Jail. Although it was expected that Abhinav Kumar could get some big responsibility in the administration. But at present he has been given the responsibility of ADG Jail only.
Along with the removal of the responsibility of acting DGP from IPS Abhinav Kumar, the responsibility of ADG Law and Order has also been taken back. The special thing is that at present this responsibility has not been handed over to any officer. In such a situation, it is expected that in the coming days, a list of new responsibilities of ADG rank officers may be released.
In the changes made in IPS officers, IG Jail Vimala Gunjyal has now got the responsibility of IG Vigilance. The responsibility of IG Jail has been taken back from Vimala Gunjyal. SSP Dhirendra Gunjyal posted in Vigilance has been kept on compulsory waiting for the time being. Dhirendra Gunjyal is to be promoted to DIG rank in January next year.
It is worth noting that till now IG Jail rank was the biggest post in the Jail Department. But now IPS Abhinav Kumar has been given the responsibility by giving him ADG Jail rank.
