In a big attack on ganja smugglers, the Lucknow team of STF conducted an operation with Lanka police on Tuesday at 11 am and recovered 400 kg of ganja loaded on a truck. Ganja is being sent from Orissa to Punjab through truck.
Truck driver smuggler Mahesh Mishra, resident of Dharohara under Handia police station of Prayagraj, who was caught by the raiding team, admitted that he himself is a smuggler and the owner of the vehicle. His gang also supplies ganja to Punjab and Maharashtra.

STF ASP Dinesh Singh said that information was being received about international ganja smugglers being active. Various units of STF were engaged in finding clues. Meanwhile, solid clues were found that a person was going to take a large consignment of ganja from Orissa to Punjab in truck number UP 70, GT-9837.
When the Lucknow team, along with Lanka police, laid a siege on the service road of Prayagraj Marg from Dafi toll plaza at 10 am, success was achieved. 400 kg of ganja was hidden in a truck loaded with raw iron. Smuggler Mahesh Mishra said that he has six to seven trucks.
The cost of delivering ganja is Rs. 1.25 lakh per quintal
Smuggler Mahesh Mishra said that his gang delivers ganja from Orissa to many states. He has delivered ganja to Maharashtra, Punjab and UP. One of his associates is lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail. He said that it costs Rs. 1.25 lakh per quintal to deliver ganja from Orissa to Punjab.
Lanka Inspector Shivakant Mishra, Inspector Dharmendra Rajput, STF Inspector Amit Tiwari, Head Constable Alok Pandey, Amit Singh, Constable Swaroop Pandey, Commando Prahlad etc. were present in the police team.
VDA sealed illegal construction
Action was taken against those doing illegal construction on the instructions of Varanasi Development Authority Vice President Pulkit Garg. Zone One Zonal Officer Singh Gaurav Jaiprakash said that after three floors, the work of making pillars on the fourth floor was going on at Lakshmichand in Maa Chandrika Nagar Colony of Shivpur Ward. Along with stopping the illegal construction, they were asked to get the map approved but the construction continued. The illegal construction was sealed and handed over to Shivpur police custody.
