Naval Academy Passing Out Parade; 239 trainees graduated, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi was also present

A total of 239 trainees attended the Passing Out Parade of the Indian Navy who have completed their training and are ready to serve in different locations. The 239 who completed the training included Midshipmen of the 107th Indian Naval Academy Course, cadets of the 38th and 39th Naval Orientation Courses (Extended), 39th Naval Orientation Course (Regular) and 40th Naval Orientation Course (Coast Guard and Foreign). Eight foreign cadets and 29 women trainees from four countries participated in the Passing Out Parade held at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala on Saturday, November 30.

The parade was reviewed by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, who also presented medals to the meritorious Midshipmen and cadets after the ceremonial review. The Chief Guest was accompanied by Naval Welfare and Arogya Association (NWWA) President Shashi Tripathi. VAdm V Srinivas, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, officiated as the operational officer. VAdm CR Praveen Nair, Commandant, Indian Naval Academy and Deepa Bhatt, President, NWWA Ezhimala were also present on the occasion.

Honoured persons

The President’s Gold Medal for the Indian Naval Academy B.Tech Course was awarded to Midshipman Ayush Kumar Singh.

The CNS Silver Medal and FOC-in-C South Bronze Medal for the same course were awarded to Midshipman Karan Singh and Midshipman Karthikeya V Vernekar respectively.

SLt Ritwik Mishra received the CNS Gold Medal for Naval Orientation Course (Extended), while Cadet Srijan Jain and SLT Bodekar S Subhash were awarded the FOC-in-C South Silver Medal and Commandant INA Bronze Medal respectively.

SLt Isha Shah received the CNS Gold Medal for 39 NOC Reg, Commandant INA Silver Medal and Zamorin Trophy for the best all-round women cadets were awarded to SLT Mathi Nesiga T and SLT Isha Shah respectively.

Director General Coast Guard Best Assistant Commandant Award was presented to Assistant Commandant Akash Tiwari.

Parents of the cadets also attended

During the parade, the cadets marched in a majestic manner with gleaming swords and rifles. Proud parents were elated and proud to witness this milestone in their wards’ journey and celebrated their remarkable achievements. The ceremony was a fitting culmination of the trainees’ hard work, resilience and dedication during their rigorous training at the Academy. The Chief of the Naval Staff congratulated the trainees for their stellar performance and drill movements during the parade. He expressed gratitude to the parents for supporting their wards in choosing the noble profession of arms, highlighting their commitment to serve the nation.

Emphasis on courage, resilience and integrity

The Chief of the Naval Staff also underlined the integration of international trainees, which strengthens India’s foreign collaboration and showcases INA’s world-class training facilities. Addressing the passing out trainees, CNS emphasised on the pillars of military leadership – courage, resilience and integrity and said that the true strength of military leaders lies in their “ability to anticipate, act decisively and motivate their teams to achieve success in every operation and mission and overcome any challenge”. As the trainees prepared to pass out from the Indian Naval Academy as commissioned officers, CNS reminded them that “the burden of national security is on your shoulders. Wear it with pride, carry it with honour and never relent in its service.”

Cadets wear Naval stripes for the first time

After the parade, CNS, FOCINC (South) and Commandant INA along with other dignitaries attended the Stripe Shipping Ceremony where the trainees wore their naval stripes for the first time. They also interacted with the trainees and their families over tea and congratulated them on the successful completion of training. The newly commissioned officers will now move to various Naval and Coast Guard ships and establishments, while the foreign cadets will return to their respective navies. These officers will gain further specialisation in their respective fields, upholding the core values ​​of duty, honour and courage while embarking on their professional journey.
