Uttarakhand: Funds will be made available soon to complete roads and other construction works under Municipal Corporation Haldwani – Chief Minister
Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, who arrived on a one-day visit to Haldwani, reviewed the Public Works Department, Energy and Drinking Water Department by holding a meeting with the officials in the FTI auditorium. He took information from the officials about the works and projects of road improvement, drinking water system and electricity system to be done after the widening of the roads of Haldwani city. During this, he reprimanded the officials on the slow progress of the work being done by the Drinking Water Department and the Electricity Department and said that the construction work should be completed on time, the officers should take care that the public does not face any kind of inconvenience.
During the review, District Magistrate Vandana gave information about the schemes being run under Haldwani city. Under the ADB project under the city, the construction of sewerage and drinking water line is in progress, various works have been completed. A proposal has been sent to the government to complete many works. Informed that the work of improvement and asphalting is to be done in 31 roads which were damaged by these works, for this a proposal has been sent to the government for the remaining work done with an amount of Rs 12.5 crore from the Development Authority. Apart from this, the work of asphalting and improvement of roads dug up due to the works of Jaljeevan Mission in Lalkuan area has started. The District Magistrate informed that a proposal has been sent to the government for TAC for the construction of Namo Bhawan in Haldwani.
The work of road widening up to Nariman Square within the city has been completed, beyond that road widening and hill treatment work is to be done in Ranibagh, Gulab Valley, for which a proposal has been sent to the government. Along with this, the District Magistrate informed that a proposal has also been sent to the government to reduce the damage caused by Devkhadi drain during the disaster and for its treatment.
Regarding the said proposals, the Chief Minister, on the spot, directed the Secretary Finance Uttarakhand Government to allocate the funds soon by talking on the phone. In the meeting, on the complaint of various public representatives regarding the electricity department giving high electricity bills to the consumers in various areas, the Chief Minister directed the Electricity Department to immediately set up camps in these areas and solve and resolve the problems of the public.
During this, the public representatives present also raised the issue of installing solar street lights in rural areas to protect against attacks by wild animals, especially leopards. In this regard, the Chief Minister directed the District Magistrate to take immediate action to install solar street lights in such villages.
