Uttarakhand: Dhami government will urge financially capable people to leave Ayushman, till now Rs 2289 crore has been spent on the treatment of 12.32 lakh people
The state government will request the financially capable people in the state to leave the Ayushman scheme. Currently, under the State Ayushman Scheme, everyone from the rich to the poor has the facility of free treatment up to five lakhs. So far, Rs 2289 crore has been spent on the treatment of 12.32 lakh people in the scheme. The annual budget of the Ayushman scheme is going to reach 1200 crores. The Finance Department has expressed concern over the increasing budget.
In 2018, the central government started the Atal Ayushman Yojana for poor families. Only 5.37 lakh families of Uttarakhand were eligible to take advantage of this scheme. But the state government started the facility of five lakh free treatment for 23 lakh families.
Budget likely to reach 1200 crores
Initially, the budget of the scheme was 100 to 200 crores annually. Which has increased to 600 crores. By the next financial year 2025-26, the budget of the scheme is likely to reach 1200 crores. On this, the Finance Department has cited the limited resources of the state.
Health Minister Dhan Singh Rawat says that the state government is providing free treatment facility of Rs 5 lakh to all the people of the state on Ayushman card. But those who are financially capable and are able to get treatment, will be requested to give up Ayushman card.
Ayushman cards made for more than 58 lakh people
There are 23.89 lakh ration card holder families in the state. Ayushman cards of 97.11 lakh beneficiaries of these families have been made. So far, cards of 58 lakh beneficiaries have been made. These also include golden cards of 4.73 lakh employees and pensioners.
