38th National Games in Uttarakhand, round of meetings in Delhi, Sports Minister Rekha Arya met the Union Minister
Sports Minister Rekha Arya met the Union Sports Minister to get Uttarakhand’s indigenous games included in the core group of the National Games. During this, she requested to include 7 games including Yogasana, Mallakhamb, Lagori in the list of National Games. On which the Union Sports Minister has given positive assurance.

State Sports Minister Rekha Arya met Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in Delhi late on Wednesday evening. During this meeting, Rekha Arya first thanked the Union Minister for hosting the 38th National Games entrusted to the state. After this, various topics related to the organization of the National Games were discussed between the two leaders. Rekha Arya informed the Union Minister about the preparations for the games.
On behalf of Rekha Arya, the Union Minister was also requested to include 7 games previously suggested by the state government in the schedule of the National Games. The state’s Sports Minister said that Yogasana, Mallakhamb, Rafting, Power Lifting, Speed Climbing, Karate and Lagori are an important part of the state’s sports culture. Their inclusion will increase the diversity of the National Games. She also apprised the Union Sports Minister about the preparations related to these games and their growing popularity in the state. After this, the Union Sports Minister, respecting the sentiments of the people of Uttarakhand and the players here, assured to include these games.
In a special conversation, Uttarakhand Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that according to the rules of the International Sports Federation and the Indian Olympic Association, there is a provision to include the local game of any state in the National Games. She said that the local games of Uttarakhand have been demonstrated in the last three National Games held in Ranchi, Gujarat and Goa. Now the way is clear for including them in the core games. If the local games originating from Uttarakhand are included in the core games of the National Games, then Uttarakhand will definitely do well in the medal tally.
