Uttarakhand: Raid in Green Herbal Factory… Banned medicine was being made on food license, three arrested with stock
Police and ANTF team raided a factory manufacturing herbal products running on food license. A stock of banned drugs and syrups was found in the factory. These were being produced here for about a year. Police have arrested three people including the factory owner. At the same time, two accused are absconding. Police have registered a case against all of them under NDPS Act and other sections.
SSP Ajay Singh had received information that banned drugs were being made in Green Herbal Factory. He formed a joint team of Sahaspur Police and ANTF for action. The team raided the factory on Thursday, the action continued till late night. During this, 1921 banned tablets, 592 bottles of syrup and 342 empty wrappers of tablets were found from the factory.
Police station in-charge Mukesh Tyagi said that factory owner Sanjay Kumar and Shiv Kumar of Muskipur village of Badgaon in Saharanpur and Rehman, resident of Sahabganj in Chandauli, UP have been arrested. It was told that Sanjay Kumar, Shivkumar were living in Pragati Vihar of Selaqui and Rehman was living in Premnagar.
It has come to light that Kanhaiyalal of Ambiwala of Vikasnagar and Rishabh Jain of Haridwar were also working with them, both are being searched. During police interrogation, the accused told that they did not keep the stock of medicines in the factory for fear of getting caught in the investigation.
Many medicines are also used for intoxication
Tramadol and Buprenorphine tablets found during the operation are used for severe pain. It is given in operation, cancer, bone or severe stomach pain. Whereas, Codeine Phosphate is used for dry and persistent cough.
Drug Controller Tajbar Jaggi said that the recovered medicines are psychotropic (mind-affecting). Excessive consumption of these takes the person into a state of intoxication. The trend of such medicines is increasing as an alternative to intoxication.
