Reports say that according to local officials in Gaza, 20 people were killed in attacks carried out by the Israeli army on Saturday. At least eight of those killed were civilians. However, it is not clear whether the rest of the people were fighters or not. The Israeli army has not yet commented on the alleged attacks in Gaza City and Rafah.
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, a Palestinian man was shot dead by the Israeli army at a checkpoint in the occupied West Bank on Saturday. Police said this was done after he threw firecrackers at security forces there and a knife was also found with him.
Efforts are being made for a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani has reacted to the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel. He said that the ceasefire talks could get new momentum after the US elections. Qatar is in talks with the Trump administration in this direction.
According to sources, Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy has visited Qatar and Israel to speed up the diplomatic efforts of the newly elected US President for a ceasefire and an agreement related to the release of hostages.
It is noteworthy that on October 7, Hamas carried out a terrorist attack on Israel, which started a new war. More than 1,200 people were killed in that attack and more than 250 were taken hostage. About 100 of them are still in Hamas’ custody. However, many more are feared dead. In response to Hamas’ attack, Israel carried out retaliatory attacks targeting Hamas bases in Gaza. More than 45,000 Palestinians have died in Gaza in Israel’s retaliatory action.
