Bone-chilling cold after rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand, Meteorological Department issued yellow alert

The rain and snowfall that started on Sunday has increased the chill in Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert across the state today. The mountains are shining with silver due to snowfall and the hill stations have become lively again.

Cold increased due to rain and snowfall

After the rain and snowfall in the hill districts of Uttarakhand since Sunday, the chill has increased on Tuesday. People are driving away the cold with the help of bonfires and fireplaces. Along with this, quilts and blankets have come out and people have also started wearing sweaters and caps and mufflers. The Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert regarding cold wave in all the districts of Uttarakhand.

Snowfall in Char Dham and hill stations

In the past few days, snowfall had started in the high altitude areas including Gangotri, Yamunotri and Harshil valley of Uttarkashi district. After this, there was snowfall in Badrinath, Kedarnath on Monday and there was snowfall in all the four Dhams. Along with this, there was snowfall in Dhanaulti, Chopta, Mussoorie, Chakrata and Munsiyari of Pithoragarh.

People shivering with cold

Now the effect of snowfall and rain is visible. The temperature has dropped suddenly. People are shivering with cold. Bonfires and braziers have started burning. People are trying to drive away the cold by heating the fire.

Talking about temperature, the maximum temperature of Dehradun is 18° Celsius and the minimum temperature is 8° Celsius. The maximum temperature of Haridwar was 20° Celsius and the minimum temperature was 7° Celsius. The maximum temperature of Rudrapur was 21° Celsius and the minimum temperature was 6° Celsius. The maximum temperature of Haldwani, the gateway of Kumaon, was 21° Celsius and the minimum temperature was 7° Celsius.
