A strange misdeed by the Lohaghat Water Supply Department has come to light. While water did not reach people’s homes, the water supply department did send them bills. This action by the water supply department has caused widespread anger among the villagers.

Water did not arrive, but bills were sent
In Lohaghat, the water supply department is continuously sending bills to villagers without providing water, causing widespread anger among the villagers. Today, villagers led by Basant Singh and Mukesh Singh approached Lohaghat SDM Rinku Bisht. They explained their problems and submitted a petition demanding a solution.

Appeal to the SDM for bill waiver
The villagers have requested the Lohaghat SDM to direct the water supply department to waive their water bills. The Lohaghat SDM has assured the villagers that the problem will be resolved.

The villagers stated that the village previously had a drinking water scheme run by the water supply department. However, under the “Har Ghar Jal Har Ghar Nal” scheme, the Drinking Water Corporation has uprooted the old drinking water scheme without informing the villagers. As a result, the old water tanks have dried up. The scheme has not been running for the past year.

The Water Board is continuously sending bills
Villagers stated that the village is currently receiving water from a new drinking water scheme constructed by the Water Board under the Jal Jeevan Mission. They stated that the Water Board uprooted the drinking water scheme in December 2023. Since then, the old scheme has been out of supply. However, the Water Board continues to send water bills to the villagers.
