Uttarakhand: BJP MLA raised objection on reservation of Vikasnagar Palika in civic elections, said – reservation is not right in view of population, will go to High Court
The bugle of civic elections has been sounded in Uttarakhand. Under which, after the approval of the OBC reservation ordinance, the government has fixed the rules of reservation. Regarding which, the Urban Development Department has issued a notification and almost cleared the status of reservation for the post of president of Municipal Corporation, Municipality and Nagar Panchayat. However, a week’s time has been fixed for objections before the final list is released, but sharp reactions have started coming on the reservation. In which the reaction of Vikasnagar MLA Munna Chauhan has also come to the fore.
In fact, the post of president of Vikasnagar Municipality has been reserved for Scheduled Tribes. Regarding which BJP MLA from Vikasnagar Munna Singh Chauhan has expressed sharp reaction and objected. MLA Munna Chauhan says that in terms of population, the post of Vikasnagar Municipality President has been reserved for ST, to which he objects. He said that there are Herbertpur and Vikasnagar local bodies in his area. In the provisional list of reservation of president in Municipal Council Vikasnagar that has been published, Vikasnagar has been reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST). With which he does not agree.
Objection to reserving Vikasnagar Nagar Palika
MLA Munna Chauhan says that in Uttarakhand, Khatima, Dharchula, Nanakmatta, Munsiyari and Vikasnagar have tribal population, but Khatima, Dharchula, Vikasnagar have Nagar Palika Parishad. Whereas, Nanakmatta and Munsiyari are Nagar Panchayats. Out of the three municipalities, Khatima, Dharchula and Vikasnagar have the least tribal population in Vikasnagar. In such a situation, the municipalities with higher population will be reserved first, but Khatima and Dharchula have been shown as unreserved. Whereas, Vikasnagar has been reserved.
MLA Munna Chauhan pointed out a mistake, said to go to the High Court
He said that this is a big mistake. 7 days have been given to register objection regarding the final publication of the notification. In such a situation, he will file his objection with the designated authority Director Urban Development. In which demand will be made to de-reserve Vikasnagar. If his objection is not accepted or acknowledged there, then he will also consider going to the High Court.
