Uttarakhand: 130 candidates in Haldwani did not give details of election expenses, District Election Officer served notice
The District Election Officer has issued notices to 130 candidates contesting elections from Haldwani Municipal Corporation area for not providing details of expenditure under the civic elections and has sought answers from them. All the candidates who have not provided details of expenditure are contesting the councilor election from Haldwani Municipal Corporation.
130 candidates gave details of election expenditure
Election Department’s income expenditure observer Shivraj Singh Bisht said that all 10 candidates for the mayor have submitted details of election expenditure on Saturday, while 130 candidates contesting for the councilor election have not yet given details of their expenditure.
These candidates including BJP-Congress gave details of expenditure
He said that BJP candidate Gajraj Singh Bisht, who are contesting for the mayor, Congress candidate Lalit Joshi, BSP candidate Shiv Ganesh, UKD candidate Mohan, independent candidates Deep Chandra Pandey, Naveen Chandra, Bhuvan Chandra Pandey, Manoj Kumar Mannu, Manoj Kumar Arya and RP Singh have given details of their election expenditure.
228 candidates in the fray for the post of councillor
Income expenditure observer Shivraj Singh Bisht said that 228 candidates are in the fray for the post of councillor in Haldwani Municipal Corporation, while 3 candidates have been declared elected as independents. Out of a total of 231 candidates, only 101 candidates had given details of election expenditure till Saturday, while 130 candidates did not give details of election expenditure. He said that in the first phase, notices were issued to 66 candidates on Friday, while 64 candidates were issued on Saturday for not giving details of election expenditure.
Action will be taken for not responding to the notice
Shivraj Singh Bisht said that if these candidates do not respond to the notice and show the expenditure, then action will be taken against them by the District Election Officer. He said that all the notices have been issued by the Returning Officer.
