On Makar Sankranti, devotees took a holy dip in Ganga Bhagirathi, Dev Dolis also took a bath in Ganga

On Makar Sankranti, a huge crowd of devotees gathered with Dev Dolis for Ganga bath. Faith prevailed over the biting cold and thousands of devotees took the benefit of virtue by taking a dip in Ganga Bhagirathi. In the presence of dozens of Dev Dolis, the entire Kashi city of Uttar reverberated with the sound of drums and chants of Maa Ganga. At the same time, a devotional atmosphere prevailed throughout the day in the entire city area.
Dev Dolis were given a bath
The crowd of devotees started gathering at four o’clock in the morning on Wednesday at the bathing ghats including the mythological Manikarnika Ghat, Jadbharat, Kedar Ghat, Lakheshwar, Shankar Math, Nakuri, Devidhar, Gangori Assi Ganga Ghat of Uttarkashi. On the occasion of the bathing festival, thousands of devotees reached Uttarkashi with palanquins, drums, flags etc. of dozens of deities like Kandar Devta of Barahat area, Hari Maharaj of Badagaddi area, Khandadhari Mata, Kailapir, Nag Devta, Ghandiyal Devta, Bal Kandar, Nagni Devi, Kachadu Devta of Ranadi, Ringali Devi of Dunda, Nagaraja of Dhanari area, Tripura Mata, Chandannanag, Rajrajeshwari etc. and took a holy dip in the Ganga.
Arrangements for bonfires were made on the ghats
After this, all the deities and devotees visited the temples of Kashi Vishwanath, Chamala ki Chaunri, Hanuman Temple, Kandar Devta and left for their destination. On this festival of Makar Sankranti, a large number of police force has been deployed at various places by the district administration and the district panchayat to make arrangements for lighting and cleanliness on the ghats. Arrangements for bonfires were made on the ghats and squares to avoid the cold.
