Saif Ali Khan’s troubles increase, Pataudi family’s property worth ₹15 thousand crores may be confiscated

Recently, actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked. After which he returned home after being discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. However, the troubles for Saif did not end here. Now his family’s property worth Rs 15,000 crore is in danger. The government can take possession of this property located in Bhopal.
This step can be taken under the “Enemy Property Act”. Giving an important verdict, the Madhya Pradesh High Court has lifted the ban on the properties of the Pataudi family in 2015. After this decision, the way has been cleared for the government to acquire these properties under the Enemy Property Act 1968.
Can these properties of Saif Ali Khan be confiscated?
According to media reports, Saif Ali Khan’s family i.e. the Pataudi family has many historical properties in Bhopal. Whose total value is around 15,000 crores. Under the Enemy Property Act, the government can take control of many important properties like Flag Staff House, Noor-us-Saba Palace, Dar-us-Salam, Habibi’s Bungalow, Ahmedabad Palace and Kohefiza Property. Out of these important properties, Saif also spent his childhood in the Flag Staff House.
What is the whole controversy?
Actually, according to the Enemy Property Act, the Government of India can take control of the properties of those who went to Pakistan after the partition of 1947.
The last Nawab of Bhopal, Hamidullah Khan, had three daughters. Out of which his eldest daughter Abida Sultan went to Pakistan in 1950. While his second daughter Sajida Sultana stayed in India and married Nawab Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi. After which she became the legal heir. Sajida Sultana’s grandson Saif Ali Khan inherited a part of these properties. But due to Abida Sultan going to Pakistan, this property has now come under the purview of the government’s claim.
What happened in the court?
This dispute started in 2014. When the Enemy Property Department issued a notice to declare the properties of the Pataudi family in Bhopal as enemy property. In the year 2015, Saif challenged this decision and got a stay from the High Court. But in December 2024, the Madhya Pradesh High Court rejected Saif’s petition. He was given 30 days to appeal to the tribunal. At present, Saif and his family have not taken any action in this matter yet.
