Selfie with wife became the reason for death, this is how the soldiers ‘killed’ the Naxalite with a reward of Rs 1 crore
A big revelation has been made about top Naxal leader Jayaram Reddy alias Chalpati, who was killed in an encounter between security forces and Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district recently. Jayaram Reddy’s selfie became the reason for his death. This selfie gave his address to the security forces.
Chalapati was the ‘killer’ of 13 security personnel
In fact, Chalpati was killed in an encounter during an operation on the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border recently. He was carrying a bounty of Rs 1 crore. He led the Maoist attack in Odisha’s Nayagarh district in 2008, in which 13 security personnel were killed. A senior officer involved in the anti-Naxal operation said on Wednesday, “The attack of 15 February 2008 was planned by top Maoist leader Ramakrishna, but it was executed by Chalpati.” Ramakrishna has died. The officer said that it was Chalpati who helped the Maoists successfully escape from Nayagarh after looting the weapons of the police. Officials said that Chalapathi, a resident of Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, was mainly active in Chhattisgarh and Odisha. Maoist activities have now ended in Andhra Pradesh.
Identified through selfie
While living in the forests, Chalapathi became friends with Aruna alias Chaitanya Venkat Ravi, ‘Deputy Commander’ of Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) and then Chalapathi married her. Officials said that he was away from the reach of security agencies, but a selfie taken with Aruna led to his identification and a reward of Rs 1 crore was announced on him.
Chalapati killed
They said that this selfie of the couple was found in the smartphone, which was recovered after an encounter between Maoists and security forces in Andhra Pradesh in May 2016. Police said that 16 Maoists including Chalapathi were killed in an encounter with security forces on the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border. They said that two of them were killed on Monday morning. 14 more Maoists were killed in another encounter late Monday night.
