Narcotics in action in Uttarakhand, drugs worth more than ₹22 crore will be disposed of
A program was organized today regarding the disposal of narcotics, in which Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami joined virtually from Delhi. In the last 3 years, narcotics worth more than Rs 22 crore have been recovered, while 907 criminals have been arrested. This information has been given by DGP Deepam Seth.
Let us tell you that Anti Narcotics Task Force has been constituted at the state, district and police station level by Uttarakhand Police to stop drug smuggling and sale. Also, under the drug-free campaign, along with action against criminals, awareness programs are also being run. After the conference held on January 11 under the chairmanship of the Union Home Minister, the Drug Disposal Fortnight was started from January 11 to 25. During this, action was taken to dispose of narcotics in Garhwal and Kumaon Range.
In Kumaon division, from the year 2022 to 2025, 919 kg of narcotics drugs were recovered from 200 accused arrested in a total of 264 cases. The value of the recovered narcotics drugs is Rs 13 crore 41 lakh 39 thousand 490.
In the Garhwal range, from the year 2022 to 2025, 1539 kg of narcotics drugs were recovered from 627 accused arrested in a total of 622 cases. The value of the recovered narcotics drugs is Rs 8 crore 97 lakh 23 thousand 418.
DGP Deepam Seth said that as per the campaign from the year 2022-2025, the police have arrested 907 accused in 886 cases and seized 2459 kg of narcotics, whose estimated value is Rs 22.38 crore. He said that action was taken against 5 criminals under the PIT NDPS Act 1988 and action is going on against 8 others.
DGP Deepam Seth said that by conducting financial investigation in 10 cases of commercial quantity, property worth more than Rs 3 crore earned from narcotics was seized/frozen. Also, regular meetings of the ENCORD committees formed at the state and district levels are being held. He said that the Chief Secretary, District Magistrate, and other stakeholders participate in these meetings. The Chief Minister is also giving priority to the drug-free campaign by presiding over several meetings.
