Pranav Champion VS Umesh Kumar firing case is in the headlines these days. In this case, Pranav Champion has been sent to jail in judicial custody for 14 days. His luxury cars have been seized. Also, his arms licenses have also been cancelled. Action has been taken against Umesh Kumar as well, his arms license has also been cancelled. Now the Nainital High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of this matter. The Nainital High Court has given instructions to take strict action in this matter.

Pranav Champion VS Umesh Kumar firing case heard in High Court

The Uttarakhand High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the firing incident between independent MLA Umesh Kumar and former MLA Pranav Singh Champion in Roorkee and has directed the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police Haridwar to take strict action against the accused. The High Court said that the display of muscle power in Devbhoomi is shameful and unforgivable.

High Court expressed concern

Concerned by the video of the open firing between the current MLA Umesh Kumar and the former MLA making headlines on national news channels and newspapers and tarnishing the image of Uttarakhand, the High Court’s division bench of ad-hoc judge Justice Rakesh Thapliyal has taken suo motu cognizance of the incident. Taking cognizance of the incident on Tuesday morning, the High Court expressed concern over non-compliance of the orders passed by the Supreme Court in Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay vs Union of India. In this order, guidelines have been issued to stop the criminalization of politics.

Pranav Singh jailed and Umesh Kumar’s arms license cancelled

The High Court asked the District Magistrate Haridwar and Senior Superintendent of Police Haridwar to appear in the court through video conferencing and give information about the action taken in this case. In the afternoon, the District Magistrate and SSP Haridwar appeared in the court and told the court that the current MLA Umesh Kumar and former MLA Pranav Champion have been arrested, in which Pranav Singh is in jail and Umesh Kumar is on bail. The District Magistrate said that the arms licenses of both have been cancelled and the government is reviewing the removal of the security given to them. He also said that 19 cases each are pending against both of them in various courts.

The next hearing of the case will be on 12 February

The High Court fixed the next date of hearing of this case as 12 February and directed the District Magistrate Haridwar and SSP Haridwar to take strict action against the accused. The High Court has asked to present the cases going on against both, criminal record, video clip of the incident that happened on 25-26 January and the action taken report against the accused along with an affidavit in the court.

On 26 January, Pranav Singh Champion had fired at Umesh Kumar’s office

These days a war has broken out between two leaders in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand. The matter has reached to going to each other’s house and office and fighting and firing. Former MLA Pranav Singh Champion went to Khanpur MLA Umesh Kumar’s office on 26 January and not only beat him up, but also fired. Its video has also surfaced. At present, the police has reached the spot.

There was a verbal war going on between the two leaders

Both are often seen making sarcastic remarks at each other. But now the matter has reached to abuse and fighting and firing. Khanpur MLA Umesh himself has given information about this.
