Uttarakhand: Dhami government’s big decision in the field of health, made uniform charges for prescription, bed and ambulance in government hospitals of Uttarakhand

The Uttarakhand government has given a big relief to the general public in the field of health. Actually, a uniform user charge will now be taken from the patients coming for treatment in the hospitals of the state’s government medical colleges. Along with five government medical colleges in the state, hospitals affiliated to the under-construction Government Medical College Rudrapur and Pithoragarh are also running, in which a uniform fee will be charged from making OPD and IPD slips to beds and ambulances. Also, the Medical Education Department has decided that the money received as user charges from the government medical college hospitals will be used for the facilities of the general public.
In fact, the exercise to make the user charge of all the government medical college hospitals in the state uniform has been going on for a long time, because the rates of registration fee of patients, beds, ambulance and pathology tests are different in the hospitals of medical colleges. In such a situation, the government has decided to implement uniform rates of user charge in the hospitals of medical colleges on the lines of government hospitals, which will directly benefit the patients coming for treatment.
Health Secretary Dr. R Rajesh Kumar said that a uniform rate has been fixed to bring uniformity in user charges in all government medical colleges. The amount received through user charges in government medical colleges and affiliated hospitals will be used for facilities for the general public, including construction and maintenance of night shelters, research work in the medical field, encouragement to medical research students, setting up milk booths under the pediatrics department, expanding facilities for the disabled as well as construction of pink toilets.
Let us tell you that after the new rates are implemented, the OPD slip fee in all government medical colleges will be Rs 20 and the IPD slip fee will be Rs 50. In medical colleges, a fee of Rs 25 per bed will be charged in general ward, Rs 300 in private ward and Rs 1000 per bed in AC ward. The ambulance fare will be Rs 200 for five kilometers. After this, Rs 20 will be charged per km. The rates of X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan, MRI, dialysis in government medical colleges will be same as Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) rates. That is, X-ray will be Rs 133, ultrasound fee will be Rs 570, dialysis fee will be Rs 1400, MRI will be Rs 2848 and CT scan fee will be Rs 1350.
