Salon operator Deepak Kumar became councillor in Uttarakhand, this is how he won the trust of the people of Srinagar

Yes, Deepak, who was elected as a councillor on a BJP ticket from ward number 23 of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, is a salon operator by profession. He has travelled from a small shop to a councillor. Now, after becoming a councillor, Deepak has said that finding a permanent solution to the biggest problem of his ward, rainwater drains and waterlogging, is his priority.
Journey from a small shop to a councillor
Deepak and his father Jagdish Kumar have been running a small salon shop for the last four decades on PNB Marg near the petrol pump in Srinagar. Jagdish Kumar started this shop about 40 years ago. Whereas, for the last 18 years, Deepak has also been helping him in this business. This shop of just 5×6 feet has not only been a means of livelihood for his family. But, it has also become a medium to connect with the society.
Public trust and victory
Newly elected councillor Deepak says that this shop is not only a means of livelihood, but is also an important part of his life. Even after becoming a councillor, he will continue this work. Because, it keeps him connected to his roots. In the civic elections, three independent candidates including Congress were in the fray against Deepak Kumar from ward number 23, but the residents of the ward expressed their faith in him. He won by defeating the nearest rival independent candidate Akash Bharti by 16 votes.
Resolve to make the ward ideal
Deepak’s goal is to make his ward an ideal ward. He said that the problem of waterlogging becomes severe during the rainy season. His priority is to solve it permanently. So that people can get relief. At the same time, his father Jagdish Kumar emotionally says that he spent his whole life working in the salon and his son also supports him in this profession. He never thought that he would become a councillor, but his honesty and habit of staying connected with people brought him to this position.
