Uttarakhand: Congress candidate raised questions on the documents of the newly elected president of Banbasa Nagar Panchayat, demanded to stop the oath taking ceremony

Although the election results have been declared in Banbasa Nagar Panchayat, but after the victory of the BJP candidate, now the defeated Congress candidate Vijendra Kumar has raised questions on the educational and age related documents of the newly elected president Rekha Devi. By sending a complaint letter to the Chief Electoral Officer of the district, Vijendra Kumar has demanded to stop the oath taking ceremony of Rekha Devi till the documents of her are examined.

According to the defeated Congress candidate Vijendra Kumar, Rekha Devi has shown her current age as 40 years in her affidavit. She has mentioned that she passed class VIII from Tarai Nagla in the year 1994. According to calculations, it is coming out that she passed the class VIII examination in ten years, whereas as per the rules, the age to pass class VIII in any school is approximately 12 to 14 years. The age limit for the entrance examination in Navodaya Vidyalaya is also 13 to 15 years. In such a situation, the authenticity of Rekha Devi’s educational documents seems doubtful.

Vijendra Kumar has attached copies of the affidavit and other related documents attached to Rekha Devi’s affidavit in his complaint letter. Vijendra Kumar has appealed to the Chief Election Officer to seek information from the educational officials of the concerned school under the Right to Information Act 2005 regarding Rekha Devi. Also, Rekha Devi’s oath taking ceremony should be stopped till the information is received, so that the democratic process remains fair and transparent. Vijendra Kumar has also demanded from the Election Officer that if any error is found after examining Rekha Devi’s documents, then her nomination should also be cancelled.

The newly elected president of Banbasa Nagar Panchayat, Rekha Devi, said that all the allegations made by the Congress candidate are frustration of defeat. All the allegations are false. The public has given her their mandate, which is in front of everyone. She said that now such allegations have no meaning. All this is like a frustrated cat scratching the pole.
