‘I will not eat nor will I let others eat’ has remained just a slogan, corruption has increased in India, Bihar Congress MP makes a big attack on Modi government

Transparency International released its corruption report of 180 countries on February 11. India’s ranking has fallen further this year. It has fallen 3 places to 96th in the 2024 list. In 2023, India was at 93rd position. This means that corruption has increased in our country.

Neighboring country China remains at 76th position in this list. Its ranking has not changed for 2 years. At the same time, corruption has also increased in Pakistan. It has come down from 133 to 135th position. Sri Lanka is at 121st and Bangladesh is at 149th position.

Denmark remains at number one. There is the least corruption there. Finland is at second and Singapore is at third position. While South Sudan (180) is the most corrupt country. In the ranking released, the country at number 1 has less corruption and the country at number 180 has the most corruption.

India’s score has been set at 38 in the report. This score was 39 in 2023 and 40 in 2022. India has slipped 3 places by losing just one number. The global average has remained at 43 for years. While more than two-thirds of the countries have scored below 50.

For this index, experts of Transparency International assess corruption in the public sector of every country. After this, every country is given a score between 0 to 100. The more corruption in a country, the lower the score it is given. On this basis, the ranking in the index is determined.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the slogan ‘Na khaunga na khane dunga’ to end corruption in the country. But his slogan has remained just a slogan. Statistics show that corruption has increased in the country even after the Modi government came to power. So much so that India’s ranking in the list of the world’s most corruption-affected countries is constantly falling. Now, a Congress MP from Bihar has launched a major attack on the Modi government over this.

Congress MP from Katihar Tariq Anwar, citing a report by Transparency International, targeted the Modi government for increasing corruption in India. In a social media post on Wednesday, he took a dig at the Modi government’s policies for increasing corruption in India in Transparency International’s corruption report.

Tariq wrote, ‘See the reality of the slogan ‘Na khaunga na khane dunga’! The corruption report of 180 countries shows that corruption increased in India, India fell 3 places in the list and came at number 96.’ In fact, Transparency International released its corruption report of 180 countries on February 11. In this, India’s ranking is stated to be 96. This is a figure of slipping 3 places in 2024 as compared to 93 places in 2023, due to which India has now come to number 96 in this ranking. This change of three places means that corruption has increased in India in the last one year.

Corruption in India

In comparison to India, China remains at number 76 among neighboring countries. However, corruption has increased in Pakistan. Pakistan has come down from 133 to 135 in the last one year. Similarly, Sri Lanka is at number 121 in this list while Bangladesh is at number 149. At the same time, Denmark has the most corruption in the world, which is at number one in the report of Transparency International. America is at number 28 and Russia is at number 154 in this list.

Modi government on target

Now Tariq Anwar has targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over this fall in India’s ranking. Since the time Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014, he has continuously given the slogan ‘Na khaunga na khane dunga’. But even after that, cases of corruption have increased in the country. Now Tariq Anwar has made this an issue and asked that when PM Modi’s slogan is ‘Na khaunga na khane dunga’, then how is this figure of increasing corruption in the country coming.
