New pink toilets will be built in Agra’s markets. Sanitary pad vending machines will be installed. Pads will be available by inserting a five rupee coin. Female sweepers will be deployed at pink toilets. These instructions were given by State Women Commission Chairperson Babita Singh Chauhan on Tuesday. She held a public hearing of women harassment cases at the Circuit House. The Chairperson has also banned the participation of the woman head’s husband or relative in the meeting instead of the woman head.

She gave instructions to train women village heads, organize workshops and give information about government schemes. She has asked to ensure high level cleanliness in the pink toilets being built for women at public places. In the meeting, instead of health, education, disabled, social welfare, panchayat raj officials, their subordinates attended. The Chairperson expressed displeasure and gave instructions to issue notices against the absent officials. A woman resident of Dhanoli said that her husband died in March. Her in-laws harass her. A woman resident of Teedi Bagiya said that a neighbor raped her. The accused’s friends are threatening to kill her if she does not withdraw the case. A woman resident of Tajganj said that her husband beats her after drinking alcohol. The police is not listening to the complaint even after it was lodged.
