Uttar Pradesh: Road accident in Shahjahanpur: 4 workers died, 16 injured as van overturned
Four labourers were killed and 16 others injured when a van overturned after being hit by an unknown vehicle in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Police has given this information.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Manoj Kumar Awasthi said on Thursday that the accident took place near Vichola village late on Wednesday night. He said that the van going to Haryana carrying labourers and their families was hit by an unknown vehicle on Wednesday night, due to which the van overturned and two people in it – Shyamvati (60) and Sameela (26) died on the spot.
Awasthi said that the police admitted other victims of the accident to Farrukhabad District Hospital, where two more people – Ram Kumari (35) and Lavkush (30) died during treatment. He said that 16 other people were seriously injured in this accident and their treatment is going on in the district hospital of Farrukhabad.
The people killed in the accident were residents of Sitapur district and were going to Haryana to work as laborers. Awasthi said that the police is trying to trace the unknown vehicle that hit them.
