A trader named Suresh Kumar Gupta, who came to set up a shop in Maha Kumbh from Uttarakhand, said, “Not even 25% of my goods have been sold in this fair. We bought the shop after bidding a fair amount after the auction. The total price of the shop is Rs 15 lakh. The administration did not stand by its word. We traders have cried. My daughter’s wedding is on March 17 next month. I invested Rs 70 lakh by taking a loan of lakhs of rupees. We did not earn anything but lost it.” He further said, “I have not even recovered the expenses of my shop. I had so many dreams for my daughter. I don’t know if those dreams will come true or not. The administration did not fulfill the promises it made.”

At the same time, another shopkeeper told that the clothes which he was selling for Rs 500 earlier, now he is forced to sell his goods for just Rs 100. He showed his huge unsold stock on UP Tak’s camera and told that the entrance which the administration had planned to open was closed at the last moment. Due to this, there was almost no movement of customers and his sales came to a halt.

Let us also tell you that many shopkeepers have closed their shops and returned home due to heavy losses. A businessman showed on camera how many shops are now completely closed, because shopkeepers could not sell their stock and after suffering huge losses, they were forced to go back. The traders have demanded the administration to pay attention to this serious situation and give proper compensation.
