Hotel industry earned 25 crore rupees from National Games in Uttarakhand, transport businessmen also became ‘rich’

The 38th National Games have strengthened Uttarakhand on the economic front. The National Games proved to be no less than a lifesaver for the hotel and transport businessmen who were facing a crisis in the off season in Uttarakhand. The hotel business alone did a business of about Rs 25 crore, while the transport businessmen also earned about Rs 10 crore. Especially small hotel businessmen and transport businessmen have got relief.
8,981 players participated in 35 competitions under the National Games in Uttarakhand. Apart from this, 2,209 technical officials, 2,231 supporting staff, 54 Deputy Chiefs of Mission, 36 Chiefs of Mission, 37 DOCs participated. In this way, 45,369 people were directly associated with the event. In the state, more than 50 thousand hotel rooms were booked from two days before the inauguration on February 28 to the end on February 14.
Hotel industry did a business of about 25 crore rupees
Uttarakhand Sports Secretary Prashant Arya said that arrangements for guests and players were made in hotels of different categories ranging from five star to three star. If we consider the average rent of a room as 5 thousand rupees, then the hotel industry alone has done a business of about 25 crore rupees. Many players also brought their family and friends with them. Who stayed in hotels at their own expense. The hotel industry has also benefited from this.
Transport did a business of about 10 crore rupees
Similarly, if we talk about the transport sector, 17 thousand vehicles were hired for the National Games. Of these, 5 thousand were big and 12 thousand were small vehicles. If we assume the average rent of a vehicle to be 6 thousand rupees per day, then this figure becomes more than 10 crores. These 17 thousand vehicles were booked during the entire games.
National Games create Char Dham Yatra like atmosphere
On the other hand, hotel and transport businessmen say that their income in National Games is similar to Char Dham Yatra, tourist season. President of Uttarakhand Hotel Association, Sandeep Sahni said that this has strengthened the business. Especially small taxi drivers who were not getting bookings during the off season, have benefited a lot.
Record of volunteers also made
Sports Secretary Amit Sinha said that a record of total volunteers was also made in the National Games. He said that 31,849 volunteers participated. In this, 2,534 general volunteers and 1,075 college students were made volunteers. Out of which 7,674 volunteers participated in the training given by the Sports Department.
2.50 lakh people ate food
National Games were held at 32 places of 11 venues in Uttarakhand. Sinha said that during this time more than two and a half lakh people ate food at various places. The maximum crowd was on February 1. On February 1, more than 8,100 people, including athletes, support staff and government representatives, were in Uttarakhand. More than 20 thousand people ate food in a day.
