Uttarakhand: Champion VS Umesh Kumar dispute reaches High Court, crime horoscope of MLAs sought, asked why MLA gets Y+ security?

The Uttarakhand High Court heard the petition seeking suo motu cognizance in the dispute between former MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion and MLA Umesh Sharma. The court has asked the government to submit a report of criminal cases of all former and present MLAs. So that a decision can be taken on them within 6 months. The court also asked why the MLA has been given Y Plus security? Why has the former MLA’s residence not been vacated?
The state government gave the answer
During the hearing, the state government said that the government has taken some steps taking the matter seriously, in which a committee has been formed which will investigate the matter and take a decision in a short time.
The state government also informed that the concerned secretary has been informed to cancel the allotment of the Irrigation Department bungalow to these politicians for residential work.
Apart from this, the court will be asked to answer from the prosecution officer who did not give information about the criminal history of the accused. He informed the court that former MLA Champion has to pay ₹9209 as rent for the building, while MLA Umesh Sharma has to pay only ₹1693. The case was heard in the single bench of Justice Rakesh Thapliyal.
Let us tell you, some time ago there was a dispute and firing between Umesh Sharma and Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion. The atmosphere in Roorkee deteriorated due to the incident. People from both sides were hell bent on killing each other. When the court saw the video of this incident, the court had to take suo motu cognizance of the matter. Both were arrested after the court’s order. The court said that being a public servant, these people should not have done such a thing. The image of the state has been tarnished at the national level due to this incident.
