Kedarnath Temple

Kedarnath, the most famous abode of Lord Shankar, is situated in the lap of the Mahapath Himalayas, between Alaknanda and Mandakini. It is also the most important Kedar among the Panch Kedars. Kedar means swamp. According to a legend, it is said that in this swampy land, two sages named Nar Narayan had performed penance of Lord Shiva. Pleased with this, Shiva appeared to them and also promised to reside in this Kedar land.

This is the same Dham where 11 years ago, i.e. in the year 2010, a disaster occurred which shook the whole country. Even today, this place holds an important place in the hearts of Shiva devotees. The relationship between Uttarakhand and Shiva is centuries old, that is why it is said here that the more pebbles in Uttarakhand, the more Shankar.
