Politics on the word ‘Kathmullah’. Opposition surrounded CM Yogi, asked, ‘Was Munshi Prem Chand a Kathmullah?’

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has come under fire from opposition parties Samajwadi Party and Congress over his statement. CM Yogi used the word ‘Kathamool’ while referring to Urdu in his speech yesterday. Opposition parties today strongly objected to this and attacked him in the House. Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey strongly criticized the Chief Minister.
What did the opposition say?
Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey objected and asked, “I want to ask the Chief Minister whether Munshi Premchand, who wrote novels in Urdu, was a Kathmool? Are students studying Urdu in universities Kathmool? I strongly object to this word.”
What did CM Yogi say?
In fact, targeting the opposition parties during the budget session, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had said on Tuesday that “SP wants to take the country towards fundamentalism, which will not be acceptable at all.” He welcomed the decision to include the local dialects of Uttar Pradesh – Bhojpuri, Awadhi, Braj and Bundelkhandi – in the proceedings of the Assembly. The CM said that considering these dialects as sub-languages of Hindi, the government is committed to their protection and promotion.
Akhilesh Yadav called them ‘unparliamentary words’
Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav reacted to this entire controversy by tweeting. He wrote on his ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle, “If those who create divisions in the society by attacking others on the basis of language have the ability, then they should develop such world class schools in UP that people do not send their children outside for studies. But for this, a global perspective will have to be developed. How can those who have visited only one or two nearby countries till date have such a big perspective that they can do such a big work?”
Along with this, he posted a video and further wrote, “Those who cannot control their tongue need to go to school themselves. There should be a special class in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly to not use unparliamentary words. One student has already been found for that special class, the rest of the BJP leaders will automatically join it.”
