Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar shared important information about the bravery of the state police after the end of the Maha Kumbh Mela. He said that a section was constantly trying to prove that the Maha Kumbh was not successful, but every challenge was faced and success was achieved with the coordination of UP Police and central agencies.

Prashant Kumar also told that during the Maha Kumbh Mela, some intelligence inputs had come, which were expressing concerns about security. However, the UP Police dealt with all these threats by coordinating with the central agencies and succeeded in completing the Maha Kumbh peacefully. Some unsung heroes did a great job to deal with the threat perception regarding the Maha Kumbh.

He said, “The credit for the successful organization of the Maha Kumbh goes to the strong will of the government and our police personnel. The government provided us with the necessary resources and our personnel implemented it effectively in the field.”

The DGP praised the security management done by the UP Police during the Maha Kumbh and said that the police set a unique example in crime, mafia, conviction and crowd management. He also revealed the propaganda run against the Maha Kumbh on social media, in which videos from other countries were made viral in the name of Maha Kumbh. Kumar said that more than 150 tweets were made, in which videos from Bangladesh, Nepal and Cairo were presented as videos of Maha Kumbh.

He said, “There was never any serious accident or chaos in the organization of Maha Kumbh. In 45 days, 66 crore 30 lakh devotees took bath in Maha Kumbh and the police ensured security with all its strength and hard work.”

The DGP praised the policemen for the successful organization of the Maha Kumbh Mela and said that the police personnel and officers set an excellent example of their duty and discipline even in difficult circumstances. “There was no complaint of misbehavior by the police from anywhere. Our jawans and officers did a great job”.

The state government announced Maha Kumbh Medal, citation letter and a grant of Rs 10,000 to non-gazetted policemen for their outstanding work during the Maha Kumbh. Along with this, the government also announced to give staggered leave to the policemen, which was never done by any state government before.

DGP Prashant Kumar also discussed the future plans of UP Police. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently announced that 30 thousand constables will be recruited very soon and 90,000 new constables will become part of UP Police within a year. Apart from this, the policemen were also given soft skills and behavioral training, which improved their efficiency and ability to communicate with the public.
