Recently UPI platform Google has taken a big step. In which the platform is now starting a convenience fee for electricity, gas bill payment.
Now Google Pay is no longer free
In the year 2023, Google Pay started charging for mobile recharge. Apart from Google Pay, other UPI platforms also charge for mobile recharge. Which includes PhonePe etc. According to a report by Economic Times, till now payment was being done for free on this platform. But now users will be charged for low-value transactions.
How much % will be charged?
If the news is to be believed, the fee will be applicable on payment by debit or credit card. The fee will be from 0.5% to 1%. GST is also included with this. Google Pay has taken this decision when the platform started charging three rupees for mobile recharge in the year 2023.
A convenience fee of Rs 15 will be charged
According to media reports, it has been claimed that if the customer is paying the electricity bill through credit card, then Rs 15 will be charged as a convenience fee. The fee will be charged basically as a “processing fee for debit and credit card transactions”.
UPI platform GPay
However, no statement has come from the UPI platform GPay in this matter so far. Also, no official announcement has been made yet. News Uttarakhand does not confirm this news.
