Uproar in Uttarakhand assembly over smart meter, Congress raised voice, Premchand Agarwal replied

Today is the second day of the Uttarakhand Assembly session. On the second day, the discussion on smart meters has started in the House. Smart meters are being discussed in the House under Rule 58. Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya said that there are protests going on all over the state regarding smart meters. 1500 crores are being spent on this.
Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya said that the central government is forcing the states to install smart meters. He said that after installing smart meters, the companies will put the desired pressure on the general public. There are many flaws in smart meters. Along with this, there are many problems regarding the network as well. Yashpal Arya said that many problems have come up in the states where smart meters have been installed. Smart meters will not give the correct voltage and reading.
Congress MLA Tilak Raj Behad also raised an outcry in the matter. Tilak Raj Behad said that the electronic meters installed 1 year ago are working well. The government is spending on smart meters without any reason. He said that the company which was given the work in Garhwal for this has serious allegations of corruption against it. 2 officers of this company are also in jail. He said that through this the government is promoting privatization.

Premchand Agarwal presented the government’s side on smart meters. He said that misleading propaganda is being done across the state regarding smart meters. Smart meters have started being installed in all the states of the country. Nearly 5 lakh smart meters have been installed in the neighboring state of Himachal. Premchand Agarwal said that 15 lakh 87 thousand smart meters will be installed in the state. Smart meters are being installed under the centrally funded scheme. He said that every update related to smart meters will be available on the phone. You will have to pay as much electricity as you use. He said that this will help in preventing electricity theft.
Premchand Agarwal said that smart meters are being installed in post paid mode only. For this, 40 companies have been listed across the country. 2 companies have been selected through E tender, he said that its entire work is being done with transparency.
