Uttarakhand / Dehradun: 2 officers face to face in the matter of sealing the bar, DM sealed it, Excise Commissioner reinstated it!

The District Magistrate and the Excise Commissioner have come face to face over the suspension of the bar’s license. The bar and restaurant, which was sealed on Saturday night on the orders of the DM and its license was suspended for 15 days, has been reinstated by Excise Commissioner Harishchandra Semwal. The Excise Commissioner has issued these instructions on the appeal of the bar. At the same time, according to the District Magistrate, he has not received any order of any kind yet. Legal action will be taken after receiving the order. Also, the bar and restaurant are currently in the same condition.
DM had sealed the bar and restaurant
Let us tell you that during the raid on Saturday in the famous bars and restaurants of Dehradun by the team of Dehradun District Administration, liquor and hookah were caught being served till late night. The administration alleged that DJ was being played in both the bar restaurants even after 11 pm. According to the report of the District Administration, complaints were being made by the local residents through different mediums for a long time regarding both the bars and restaurants.
The license was suspended for 15 days
During the raid, more than 100 people were found present in both the bars and restaurants. Minors were also among them. The DJ operator and employees had told that programs are organized every day from 1 am to 2 am. After this, the team of the district administration sealed both the restaurants and bars on the orders of the DM and suspended their license for 15 days.
The Excise Commissioner suspended the DM’s order
It is shocking that after the appeal made by the bar operator, the Excise Commissioner, after hearing, has ordered that the related file in the case be presented before the Appellate Officer/Excise Commissioner on March 06. The order of the District Magistrate is suspended till final disposal.
Such a case has come up before
This is not the first case when the Excise Commissioner has changed the decision of the District Magistrate in this way. Earlier also, this had happened regarding the liquor shop of Rajpur Road. Then the local people on Rajpur Road had complained that an open bar was running in the liquor shop. The allegations were found to be true in the investigation. On the basis of the investigation report, the District Magistrate had suspended the license of the liquor shop for 15 days. Even then, Excise Commissioner Harishchandra Semwal had stayed the suspension and issued orders to open the liquor shop.
DM’s statement
At the same time, District Magistrate Savin Bansal has said that all other actions including license suspension have been taken on violation of rules. However, he has not received any order of any kind yet and legal action will be taken after receiving the order. The DM said that the bar and restaurant are currently in the same condition.
