There will be promotion from PPS to IPS in Uttarakhand soon, Union Home Ministry has given its consent on the vacant post

The Union Home Ministry has given its consent for promotion from State Police Service to Indian Police Service cadre in Uttarakhand. In this way, an officer of the State Police Service in Uttarakhand is going to get a chance to be promoted to the Indian Police Service cadre. Many PPC officers of the year 2005 batch are still waiting to be promoted to IPS.

The Union Home Ministry has given its consent to the Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand and UPSC through a letter regarding the vacancy of one post on the IPS cadre in the state. MHA has written a letter to speed up the process of promoting the State Police Service officer to the IPS cadre in relation to the vacancy of one post in the state. Regarding this, the Uttarakhand government had written a letter to the Union Home Ministry this month.

The Union Home Ministry has informed in a letter to Uttarakhand that the authorized promotion quota of IPS of Uttarakhand cadre as of January 1, 2025 is 23, out of which 22 officers are already in the post. In such a situation, one post is vacant in the total promotion quota. This vacancy regarding promotion in IPS cadre has been created after the retirement of IPS Sukhbir Singh in 2024. The officers of the year 2005 have been waiting for a long time for promotion from PPS to IPS. At present, on the basis of seniority, 2005 batch PPS officer Surjit Singh Panwar is expected to get benefit in this promotion.

The special thing is that Ajay Singh and Pankaj Bhatt in the batch of PPS officers of the year 2005 have been promoted to IPS rank in the year 2014 itself. Whereas now four officers of the 2005 batch are waiting to get IPS rank. The special thing is that due to no vacancy in the IPS rank, officers of the same batch are getting the benefit of promotion after a gap of several years.

Due to the batch of PPS officers of the year 2005 being large and in comparison to this, there being no vacancy in the IPS rank, all the officers were not able to get promotion. Looking at the current situation, all the officers of 2005 will have to wait till 2027 to be promoted to IPS. In view of these conditions, now PPS is being specially considered during requisition and now efforts are being made to send requisitions in lesser numbers.
