Uttarakhand: Health department got a big boost in the budget, Atal Ayushman Yojana got ₹550 crore

A large amount has been given in the budget for the upcoming financial year 2025-26 for the Health Department, the most important sector of Uttarakhand. A budget of Rs 3311 crore 54 lakh 4 thousand has been kept for the Department of Medical Health and Family Welfare in the budget. Health department is the largest sector, because the department plays an important responsibility in providing better health facilities to the people of the state as well as the floating population. In such a situation, a provision of Rs 3226 crore 21 lakh has been made in the revenue head and Rs 85 crore 33 lakh 4 thousand in the capital head.
In the financial year of the Medical Health and Family Welfare Department, a budget of Rs 5 crore has been kept for the construction of buildings of primary health centers, Rs 10.00 crore for the construction of buildings of community health centers, Rs 25 crore for the construction of sub-district hospitals, Rs 27 crore for the construction of residential/non-residential buildings. At the same time, a provision of Rs 17.82 crore has been made for the mental hospital. Apart from this, a budget of Rs 550 crore has been kept for Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana, which provides free treatment of Rs 5 lakh every year to every family of the state, and Rs 10 crore for State Government Health Scheme (Pension).
Rs 14 crore for Eja-Boi Shagun Yojana for pregnant women in the state, Rs 17 crore 99 lakh for private participation (PPP mode) by the state government, Rs 51 crore 32 lakh for honorarium to Asha workers / part-time midwives, Rs 761 crore 90 lakh for National Health Mission (NHM), Rs 54 crore 71 lakh under Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.
Health Minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the government is working towards expanding as well as improving health services in the state. Under this, the government has increased the budget along with including new schemes in the budget for the financial year 2025-26, so that every citizen can easily get health facilities.
