Anna praised Delhi CM Rekha Gupta and told why he is angry with Arvind Kejriwal

Social activist Anna Hazare has praised Delhi’s new Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and also explained the reason for his displeasure with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal. He said that Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal was doing ‘good work’ as the Chief Minister of Delhi, but then he started opening liquor shops and as a result he had to face the anger of the people.
Hazare said that it is a matter of pride for a woman to become the new Chief Minister of the national capital. Referring to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, he said that people voted for her because of her ‘pure thoughts and actions’. Hazare’s anti-corruption movement culminated in the birth of Aam Aadmi Party. Referring to the controversial excise policy of the AAP government (now abolished), he said that as the Chief Minister, Kejriwal should have set an example in front of the society, but he went astray.
‘…then I got upset’
Hazare said, ‘The previous Chief Minister (Kejriwal) was doing good work and became the Chief Minister of Delhi thrice. I did not say anything (against him) because he was doing good work. But then gradually he started opening liquor shops and issuing licences. Then I got upset.’ Hazare is known to be a vocal opponent of consumption or sale of alcohol. Kejriwal was once Hazare’s ally in the anti-corruption movement, but the two parted ways after the formation of AAP in 2012.
