Uttarakhand: Premchand Agrawal should be honoured with State Unity Award, Harish Rawat said on controversial statement
Finance Minister Premchand Agarwal’s statement on the hill community in the assembly is in the headlines these days. Protests are being held across the state regarding the statement. Along with this, the demand to expel Premchand Agarwal from the cabinet is also gaining momentum. In this episode, a statement by senior Congress leader Harish Rawat has now come to the fore. Harish Rawat has requested through social media to honor the cabinet minister with the State Unity Award.
Harish Rawat said that the incidents that took place in this assembly session do not reflect personal mentality but the mentality of power. Power is in arrogance. Power does not have the ability to understand Uttarakhand, so its ministers and MLAs occasionally give such statements, which hurt the basic sentiments of the formation of the state.
Senior Congress leader Harish Rawat said-
The people here have made the state of Uttarakhand by making sacrifices. This state was not created so that they are constantly insulted. The anger of the society should not be targeted on the person but on what mentality is working behind that person, what powers are standing behind him. If some people of the party to which the people have given everything say things that hurt the identity and sentiments of Uttarakhand, then who is guilty of this? The guilty are those who remained silent in the House on this incident. The guilty are those who are silent outside as well.
Along with this, Harish Rawat also surrounded the Dhami government regarding UCC. He has taken a dig at the BJP government regarding UCC. Harish Rawat said that in view of the opposition of the Congress on the Uniform Civil Code, the top leadership of the BJP has directed all the MLAs, whenever you go to your assembly constituency, then you must write on a big poster there, that you are welcome to Uttarakhand, the land of live-in relationships. Also write below that poster that so what if employment is not given, but we have made a law for live-in relationships and given it to you.
