Uttarakhand / Haridwar: Lakhs of rupees were defrauded on the pretext of backdoor recruitment, this is how the accused carried out the crime

Haridwar Police has arrested a cunning thug who cheated lakhs in the name of job. The accused had extorted Rs 3 lakh 70 lakh in lieu of getting a government job through backdoor.

Accused who cheated lakhs arrested

The accused has been identified as Himanshu Kumar son of Sundar Lal resident of Bageshwar, currently resident of Jers Country Jwalapur. The accused had cheated former landlord Pratik Madan of Rs 3.70 lakh using fake letter pad of Chief Minister Uttarakhand, fake email ID of PWD department and edited seal of High Court.

The accused used to cheat by giving the pretext of backdoor recruitment

Haridwar Police has recovered PC, laptop, fake appointment letter and fake seals of government departments from the flat of the accused located in Jers Country. The accused used to cheat by giving the pretext of backdoor recruitment and was also planning to make fake stay order.

This is how the fraud was executed

Post graduate Himanshu had come to Haridwar from his village in 2017 to do PhD and in search of a job. From 2017 to 2021, the accused stayed on rent at a house in Krishnanagar. After establishing good relations between the landlord and his family, the accused came to know that Pratik Madan was looking for a government job.

Taking advantage of this, Himanshu lured Pratik in July 2024, citing his and his friend Gaurav Kumar’s good acquaintances in the Uttarakhand government and the Chief Minister’s office, that he would get the complainant, his sister, brother-in-law, cousin, friend a government job on some posts that are filled by the government from time to time through backdoor. In lieu of backdoor recruitment, the accused took an advance of Rs 370000.

The accused had taken a hefty amount. But as the claim of acquaintance in the Uttarakhand government turned out to be false, when the complainant and his relatives did not get any job for a long time and he started asking for his money back, the accused Himanshu used his cunning mind and with the intention of creating an impression as well as misleading, he kept sending letters to Prateek Madan from time to time by preparing fake letter pad of the Honorable Chief Minister and fake mail id of the PWD department, Chamba.
