Uttarakhand: The election process of cooperative societies has been postponed, the Nainital High Court had given this order to the Dhami government

The Uttarakhand High Court heard the matter regarding the elections of cooperative societies to be held in the state today on 24 February. After hearing the case, the division bench of senior Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari and Justice Ashish Naithani, while upholding the order of the single bench, has told the state government that the elections should be held as per the order of the single bench.

Let us tell you that, in this case, the order of the single bench was challenged through a special appeal by the society today. In which it was said that the state government has made some amendments in it to conduct the election of cooperative societies, that should also be implemented and elections should be conducted accordingly.

At the same time, expressing objection, RTI activist Bhuvan Pokhariya and many other petitioners said that cooperative elections should be conducted only under the previous rules. The state government has amended the rules after announcing the election program, which is wrong, whereas the process of conducting elections has started from the month of December. Now the state government is making amendments in this matter, which is against the rules.

The objection is that the state government has amended it and given the right to vote to those who are retired or are not members of this committee. The rule says that only those who have been its members for three years will be able to participate in the election of the committee members.
