Major road accident in Thailand, 18 people died as bus fell into a ditch; many injured

A tour bus lost control and fell into a ditch in Prachinburi, Thailand. 18 people died in this incident. On Wednesday, the police there gave information about this incident.
Brakes failed, bus fell into the ditch
Police said, the area where the incident happened was a sloping road and the brakes of the bus failed. After this, the driver of the bus lost control and then the bus fell into the ditch, killing 18 people.
Police said that all the people who died were going on a study trip. The incident happened 155 km (96 miles) east of the capital Bangkok. Rescue and medical workers can be seen at the spot on the social media post related to this incident.

Thailand’s Prime Minister Patongtarn Shinawatra expressed grief over this accident and expressed condolences to the victim families. He also talked about investigating this accident.
He posted on Instagram and said, “If it is found that vehicle safety has been violated, legal action will be taken against those who do not meet the standards and drive vehicles carelessly.” PM Shinawatra said, “Vehicle inspection should be done in a safe manner and vehicles should be ensured to follow the standards. Standards should be used to prevent accidents.” 23 people died in a bus accident last year. Road accidents and deaths are common in Thailand. Weak vehicle safety standards and poor maintenance of roads are a major cause of accidents. Earlier in Thailand, last year a school bus caught fire due to leakage from a gas cylinder, in which 23 people including 16 students died.
