There are many dangers too

• Henrietta McNeil, an expert from Australian National University, said, there are many dangers too. Criminals can use these documents to evade laws, launder money or abuse visa-free entry rules.
• In 2003, Nauru authorities also sold citizenship to al-Qaeda terrorists who were later arrested in Asia. This time Nauru will only give passports to investors who pass a strict vetting process.
• Since 2012, Nauru has received millions of dollars from the Australian government to house migrants who have sought asylum in Australia. But the scheme was gradually scaled back after 14 detainees died.
