Uttarakhand / Kotdwar: Kotdwar: Police sent the journalist who wrote on the girl’s death to jail, made Dhami’s statement fail

The working style of Uttarakhand Police has once again come under question. The police, which was negligent in the case of the death of a girl in a road accident in January, made the journalist who commented on this incident on social media as the accused.

What is the whole matter

It is worth noting that on January 16, a car driver hit a girl Neelam Thapa riding a scooter on Siddhbali Road in Pauri district. The girl died in the accident. But the police could not arrest the accused driver even after 12 days. Meanwhile, the mother of the deceased sought help from journalist Sudhanshu Thapliyal. Journalist Sudhanshu posted on Facebook on January 29 and raised questions on the police in this case.

The journalist was kept in the lockup all night

The police found Sudhanshu’s Facebook post so objectionable that the police registered a case against the journalist under various sections and picked him up from his house late at night and brought him to the police station. The police is accused of forcibly getting journalist Sudhanshu to sign on blank papers and keeping him locked in the lockup all night.

Journalist complained on CM portal

Journalist Sudhanshu has complained about this entire matter to the CM portal, Police Complaints Authority and Human Rights Commission. The Human Rights Commission has taken cognizance of it. Human Rights has started action after taking cognizance of the report. While the Police Complaints Authority has fixed the hearing of the case on March 24. Also, during CM Dhami’s visit to Dugdda on Tuesday, some BJP officials have also complained to the Chief Minister about the Kotdwar police.

The mother of the deceased came in support of the journalist

The mother of the deceased has also come in support of the journalist. Opposing this action of the police, she said in support of Sudhanshu Thapliyal that when the police does not work properly, we have to take the help of journalists. Even 14-15 days after my daughter’s death, the accused was absconding. After which the journalist asked for help from Sudhanshu. When he posted on Facebook, the police caught him.

Police flouted CM Dhami’s instructions

Let us tell you that the Chief Minister of the state Pushkar Singh Dhami has already made it clear that such fake cases will not be registered against journalists. In such a situation, despite his instructions, the action of Pauri Police has come under question. Now it has to be seen what stand the government takes in this matter.
